built by me!

I made this shirt using the Built by You patterns by Builty by Wendy. I love this pattern. I may have posted this before, but I am posting it again. I took a better picture this time, and I submitted it to the Built by You contest this week. So I am revisiting it basically. This is the pattern set for Style#BBY-3964. It comes with a dress, tunic and top pattern.

I could make this shirt in all solids, or all prints, or in a fancy fabric, or in vintage fabric. It is really versatile! The directions were a little confusing at some parts, but I fudged it.

Did I tell you that I am regularly checking out this Oh Joy! blog. It is really quite good. And the writer is in Philadelphia, a local!

brown birds

I have posted some famous brown bird necklaces in the shop, get them now for christmas! These ones have hand stamped "G & L" silver-plated tags next to the clasp. I made it all myself!

Some things

My new job has already been kicking my ***!
I don't have much to report, although I think I am having coffee withdrawl. I have had headaches two days in a row now. Not that I haven't been trying to drink coffee, but more like I am so busy at my job I don't have time to drink it. I don't even have time to walk over to get it.

I plan on putting up holiday decorations this weekend or next. I have all vintage decorations that I have been collecting over a few years. Here is a mint green bottle brush tree my mom gave me over thanksgiving. I had to set up some kind of scene, here with some sheep in scarves! Of course sheep wear scarves!

And here is a picture of my antique barn dresser and my new favourite vintage african dress. This is what I am into now. . .

not that great

I mean to comment on this earlier. I have been fairly impressed by the 'go international' designer editions from target. Usually I could find a wearable piece here and there. . but I am just not impressed by the Benhaz stuff. I think it looks really cheap. All that shiny silk. I am looking forward to the next installment which I hear is everybody's favouriteProenza Schouler.

Also I just looked at the Viktor & Rolf for H&M which I was also just 'eh' about.

I am however all over Orla Kiely and I love this website of danish sound loops via abby try again.

fashion victim

I never thought I would be stoked on wearing dresses over pants again. I ended up so sick of that trend and vowed to never do it again! Here I am circa 1999. . dress over pants.

Here I am today, what is that you say? yea, another blue dress over pants. . I am such a sucker!

box collection

I have been in love with this piece from Tejo Remy, which has been blogged before I know. .

I used it as inspiration for a display on the wall in my bedroom. . I am slowly going through my apartment therapy cure. I have the bedroom about 80% done. Now that I see my arrangements in photos it is looking very fall-like to me. Then it is the kitchen, living room. The bathroom is done. It is almost hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel! More pictures, before and after can be seen here. .

anti-stuffy

I feel like I have never really caught onto the stuffy trend happening in crafts the past years. I don't know why. Never really been a big fan of stuffed treats. I even tried my hand at making stuffies myself. . . I understand the cuteness, but I am not in love. I am in love however, with the work of these two artists. . Ann Wood - I have been in love with her ships for months and Tamar Mogendorff - a new discovery, can't remember through whom. . .

On a musical note, I can't get enough of Brooklny based Grizzly Bear. They are so fall-time to me.
