For the past couple of days I have been consumed with a special project. At work we have 3 bathrooms that are plain white. Wait, first let me say that where I have been working has several buildings. It can be described as a "campus" style work environment. All of the other buildings are very appropriately decorated and nice, but our is kind of plain. So someone got the idea that we should decorate our bathrooms to give us some identity. We have 3 and this week I did one of them.
I wanted to decorate in a way that related to what our building is used for. . which is production in a fashion company. I also wanted the look to relate to the entire company's identity. . I mean this will be up on the walls for a really long time. . so it has to 'work.'
I used tissue paper patterns for the base of the walls, I used mod-podge to apply them to the wall, then another top coat of the stuff. I photocopied different kinds of scissors and manipulated them to be all contrasting and grainy. Then cut the scissors out(with scissors, duh!). Then mounted the cut-outs onto colored card stock. The next day we mounted all the colored scissors on the walls with more mod podge and then one more super top coat.
I really like how it all turned out, the contrast of the tan paper patterns and the white tile. . love it. Also the grainy black and white photocopies contrasting with the bright colors. So sharp. . um, excuse the bad pun!
