whiplash competition - Quilted Coasters!

For the theme "everyday creativity," I made quilted coasters. Coasters because I use them everyday in my place. I made them out of vintage linens, things like embroidered and printed hankies, runners, table clothes, and feedsacks. These materials were at one time used everyday, on a daily basis. I thought using these items, besides just looking pretty(and a good way to use those hankies, to make a new everyday item would provide a sense of history to the *ahem" everyday coaster.

First I made a crazy quilt block, then traced out the circles in the quilt, batting, and bottom. I printed the bottom(made out of feedsack), with my logo stamp for my line, greta&lux. I did some hand stitching around some of the shapes on the pieced tops. Then I sewed it together on the machine, and edge stitched each one by hand with embroidery floss.

Boy could I use a drink! haha!
