moving day

...is tomorrow. i am not look forward! I am however looking forward to after all the hard work, when my place is set up and adorable. I've been going over almost every night, painting my bedroom, cleaning up and bringing things over. On of the first things I brought over was my record player and music. Here is my little listening station so far, with my plants. It was taken with my cell phone camera, so it is poor quality. At this point, I kind of don't even want to bring any more furniture over. It seems so nice to live so sparsely....I can't wait until it's all done and I can show you pictures!

I need apartment therapy, and maybe a strong drnk

so i have been pretty absent these days. lots has been going on. too many things to recount. this week i am scheduled to move out of my old apartment into my new apartment....i have had some crazy apartment issues that aren't ending anytime soon. you can read about my first problem here which pertains to my new apartment, and the awful smell I will be trying to mask while living there....

To hear about story about my old apartment, I will tell you and show you here....

i have 2 apartments right now - I have overlap for the next week. before the new tenants move into my current apartment, the landlord wanted to do some work, build some walls into the open floor plan. since i was out of town this weekend, I gave him the go-ahead to work while I was gone. I told him I didn't have time to move any furniture out of the way, but he could feel free to work around it/move it.

I came home late last night to this...

and here is a link to more.

he ended up demolishing a wall - with all my things in the apartment. every single thing I own now is covered in a layer of white dust. my rugs, my couch. my art supplies, antiques, textiles....evvverything. I slept there last night only because i got in so late - and i couldn't tell if i was going to have a panic attack, or the dust in the air was affecting my lungs. . . it was probably both.

I am not really looking for answers here, I know I just have get in there and wipe clean everything. I guess I am just telling my story.... now I have 2 apartments, 1 stinks, and a dry wall bomb went off in the other. 2 apartments, and yet I can't live in either one!

Also, I think writing this might help me not have a nervous breakdown. I don't know... I am about to loose it today at work!

thanks for listening,

home inspiration, a lil' diy

I am so inspired by these pictures posted on the design sponge guest blog this week. The blogger is Irene of Bloesem.

Soon, I will be moving into a new apartment, my first place alone! I am excited, and want to make it very nice and cozy. This is a big move for me, ya' know? Here are some of my favourite images from the blog:

This one is the most diy, and seems to be from salvaged pieces...a coffee table made from a piece of wood and books, magazine page wallpaper, the lamp made from pieces of discarded china, the shelf against the wall made from another piece of wood propped on 2 identical vases....

This is another good photo. This seems like it could be great for a rental, or a place where you wanted to spice up the wall, but not put too much effort into it. It's only half the wall....

bunny. bun-ny

treats and treasures...

A bit ago I posted this about a black swan. Some short weeks later I received the most amazing box of surprise treats in the mail from this lovely miss emily.

In it was all this:

(vintage fabrics, a great issue of cometbus, a set of her lovely note cards and postcards, and a hand made vintage button ring.)

But this really took the cake:

A soft version of the desired original black swan! So perfect for me to wear while performing.

Emily, you have totally spoiled me. It really did make my day.

p.s. how cute is the packaging? who doesn't wish for a package to come to them wrapped in brown paper, looking as cute as this?
